Intrinsic Technology announced the purchase of the trade, certain assets and goodwill of Dataplex Systems Ltd in a bid to enhance its solutions portfolio. Dataplex Systems Ltd is an industry leader in desktop and server virtualization; storage solutions; core infrastructure optimization and converged infrastructure with offices in Manchester and Oxford.
The acquisition follows a 35 per cent increase in Intrinsic’s turnover and 117 per cent profit growth for its financial year ending 30 November 2010. Intrinsic’s turnover reached £28 million in 2010, while operating profits rose to £2.5 million – up from £1.2 million in 2009. The company cited its service-led, shared risk approach to solution deployment as a key factor in its bullish growth. The acquisition will bring an additional £10million turnover to the business, with strong growth plans for 2011/12, stated the firm’s release.
Intrinsic had stated in late 2010 that it was seeking to complement its strong organic growth with a series of acquisitions to strengthen the company’s cloud computing proposition. Mike Mason, Managing Director noted the firm reached a stage where it could effectively integrate a strong channel solutions’ provider with a complementary proposition into the business.
He further noted that acquisitive growth is a key step in Intrinsic’s growth strategy and dataplex is an excellent fit. This investment will both strengthen the firm’s market position in the UK and create operational synergies, he said. The collective skills of Intrinsic’s employees will drive innovation and enhance value for its clients and effectively completes its enterprise data centre or Private Cloud Environment proposition, commented Mason.
There is market appetite for ‘private cloud’ solutions, where companies retain core applications and storage infrastructure, ensuring corporate data is safe and secure, he continued. Through building a virtualized data centre with a view over application availability, as well as providing a seamless user experience through market-leading voice data integration and fixed mobile convergence, Intrinsic can realize significant growth in this market and its now in a prime position to deliver on this promise, Mason added.
Richard Sparrow, dataplex Managing Director, on his part noted that Intrinsic Technology and dataplex are an ideal fit and the combination of the two companies will create a leading force in the delivery of end to end ICT services. Together the firms will become a stronger technology partner for clients, delivering a much broader, more competitive portfolio of products and services. This reinforces Intrinsic’s commitment to help clients manage and transform their technology to achieve better results, he said.
