Lloyds share sales raise almost £14 billion for the taxpayer

The government has sold a further 1% shareholding in Lloyds Banking Group through the trading plan launched in December, taking the total raised for the taxpayer to almost £14 billion and reducing the government’s shareholding to below 14%. All sales are used to reduce the national debt.

£6 billion funding to tackle potholes and improve local roads

Drivers set to save £150 million over the next ten years as driving licence fees fall

Driving licence fees will fall by up to 32% as part of the government’s commitment to deliver savings to the taxpayer.
The changes, which follow a recent public consultation, come into force from 31 October 2014. Drivers applying online will see the fee for a provisional driving licence fall from £50 to £34 and online renewals
