Yorkshire Water fined £600,000 after sewage pollution hits Wakefield fishery

Yorkshire Water Services Ltd has been fined £600,000 after an ageing sewage pipe burst and killed hundreds of fish in a Wakefield lake.

UKTI helps StadiArena win £4 million sports stadium contract in India

Warwickshire based StadiArena converts outdoor sports stadiums into indoor arenas. They have been working with UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) since 2010 to find new overseas customers for its technology.
StadiArena’s contract win in India means the company’s technology will be used for a new 25,000 capacity sports stadium in Ahmedabad, in the Indian state of Gujarat.

Record Year for UK tourism Industry as spend breaks £21 billion

Britain’s tourism industry enjoyed a record year in 2013 as visitor numbers and spend reached an all-time-high, latest figures from the Office of National Statistics reveal.
Overseas visitors spent £21.01 billion in the UK in 2013, up 12.7 per cent year-on-year. There was a record 32.8 million visits from overseas residents, up by 5.6 per cent year-on-year.

£1 billion exports win for UK education in Saudi Arabia

UK education providers have won 4 new contracts worth £850 million to establish 12 technical and vocational training colleges in Saudi Arabia, Skills Minister Matthew Hancock announced today (9 April 2014).
In total, 100 colleges are being set up across Saudi Arabia as part of its Colleges of Excellence programme, aimed at improving education and training.
