High streets and city centres are set to benefit from government plans to devolve Sunday trading laws, Business Secretary Sajid Javid has announced today (2 February 2016).
New powers to devolve Sunday trading laws to local authorities will allow councils to “zone” any relaxation so they will be able to prioritise high streets and city centres.

Government confirms consumers who bought vehicles in good faith will not incur additional tax costs

Measures to ensure people receive fair pay announced

doubling the penalties for non-payment of the National Minimum Wageand the new National Living Wage

Overnight closure on A1 in Gateshead this weekend

The northbound A1 will be closed from junction 68 (Lobley Hill) to junction 69 (A184 Gateshead Quays) from 8pm on Friday 14 August to 9am the following day.
