Fish population boost for Kent

Environment Agency fisheries officers restocked over 7,000 fish, including dace, chub, roach, and barbel, in the River Medway near Barming and the Greater Stour near Ashford.

£800,000 investment for cycling and tourism in Yorkshire

Thames Water fined £220,000 for river pollution in Surrey

Middlesbrough recycling firm fined £14,400

A Middlesbrough recycling firm has been fined £14,400 for operating a waste facility without an environmental permit.
S B Recycling Ltd, based in Normanby Road, was sentenced at Teesside Magistrates’ Court on 16 September following an Environment Agency investigation into a South Bank site known as the Junction Works.

Thames Water fined £250,000 for polluting Newbury’s Chase Brook

The case was brought by the Environment Agency after it was discovered that Thames Water had allowed untreated sewage to enter the Chase Brook.
The brook which flows through ‘The Chase’ – a 143 acre nature reserve owned by the National Trust. The nature reserve is within the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Northumbrian Water Ltd fined £30,000 over pollution incidents

Northumbrian Water Ltd has been fined a total of £30,000 for two sewage pollution incidents that happened last year.
In two separate cases that were both heard before Peterlee Magistrates’ Court on 22 April, the water company admitted and was sentenced for two offences of discharging polluted matter into watercourses.
