SSI steel works: information for employees and creditors

David Kelly, Toby Underwood and Ian Green partners from PwC have been appointed as special managers to assist and support the Official Receiver in the discharge of his duties. The liquidator is working to ensure measures are taken to ensure the Redcar Coke Ovens continue to operate over the weekend whilst the position and interest in the business is assessed.

A consequence of the liquidation is that all employees have been made redundant although measures will be taken to ensure sufficient staff are retained to operate the coke ovens and manage the site in a safe manner.

There will be a further update on Monday afternoon

Information for employees

If you were employed by SSI you will be able to make a claim for redundancy and other entitlements from the Redundancy Payments Service (RPS). RPS will provide you with information about how to make your online claim. You can read more information about your rights.

If you were self-employed and provided services to SSI you are not entitled to a redundancy payment. You will be a creditor in the liquidation.

Information for creditors

If you have supplied goods or services to SSI for which you have not been paid you will be a creditor in the liquidation. To make a claim for the money you are owed email the Official Receiver providing your company details and the amount you are owed. Please put ‘SSI – creditor’ in the subject line of your email. If you do not have access to email you can telephone the Insolvency Enquiry Line.
